Professional Experience
Julie Gorchkova joined the Litigation Practice at Becker & Poliakoff in November 2010. She focuses her practice on commercial litigation, with an emphasis on bankruptcy-related litigation. Prior to joining the firm, Julie’s legal experience included positions as a paralegal at the law firm of Held, Held & Held, a summer associate at Morgan Lewis & Bockius, where she predominantly worked in the firm’s Business & Finance Practice, and an intern at the Domestic Violence Bureau of the Queens County District Attorney’s Office, as well as the New York State Office of the Attorney General.
Honors
While attending St. John’s University School of Law, she served as an Executive Board Member of the St. John’s University Moot Court Honor Society. As an Executive Board Member, she assisted in the preparation for the Honorable Conrad B. Duberstein Bankruptcy Moot Court Competition that St. John’s University annually hosts. She also participated in several moot court competitions and was honored with an Award for 5th Best Brief at the 2009 Northeast U.S. Super Regional Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition. She was a member of the Dean’s List and was a recipient of the Law Institutional Merit Award. She also received CALI Awards of Excellence in Legal Writing, Legal Research and Writing, Advanced Legal Writing, Federal Civil Procedure, Real Property, Appellate Advocacy, Constitutional Law, Introduction to Intellectual Property, and Trusts & Estates for achieving the highest grade in each class.
